I came across a quick quiz that’s created to test one’s German skills, and got 9 out of 10. I love those tests, they refresh the memory, teach me new things and allow me to evaluate my skills every now and then.

Unemployment In The Arab World

I’ve been wanting to write about this for a while, but I’m so busy these days.

We’ve been always complaining about the unemployment problem in our countries but few was really done to solve this problem.
If we don’t face the problem, discuss it, and WORK to solve it, it wont simply be solved! Therefore I ask you all to make your voice heard, participate in this survey(AR).
By answering few questions you will help guide others to the ways we can stop the unemployment rates from increasing, and find ways to provide jobs for everyone.
It takes only few minutes, and if you have the time, you can even download and print the survey, give it to more people to give the chance for everyone you know to play a role in solving this very dangerous problem that is expected to become bigger in the few coming years.

Stop being negative, face the problem, break the silence and do something about it!

Al Aqsa VS Revava

It breaks my heart to watch any religious monument being destroyed, specially when the attacks are coming in the name of another religion.
I’ve always believed that religion means tolerance, peace, love and construction, but unfortunately many followers of religions insist in proving the opposite.

Yesterday during the news bulletin I watched an interview with a Palestinian official calling for the protection of Al Aqsa Mosque from the plots of Jewish extremists. I couldn’t tolerate the fact that other religious people are behind the threats to destroy Al Aqsa (Temple Mount). But then again, I remembered that what’s happening to Al Aqsa now has happened to Palestine long time ago when Israel had to be “re-built” as a state, on the land of Palestine, just because “it has always belonged to Jews ages ago”.
I mean if it’s justified for Israelis to occupy Palestine, erase its history, cross out its culture and make it a brand new country built on the blood and ruins of other people who had their own lives and work, then I guess no one should have any objection to any other population attacking a country of their choice and turning it into their own based on religious, historical or cultural claims!
The problem is, no one denies the fact that Palestine is a holy land, the land of the 3 religions, and all religion followers should live there in peace. No one says Jews should not live there, but when they live there, they should live with other Christians and Muslims, in peace. Each performing their own religion, respecting each other and working hand in hand to build a healthy society.
But extremism –no matter of what religion- goes beyond the normal standards of a peaceful life and never stops finding its way to destruction, and even worse, justifying that destruction with silly, horrible excuses, and doing that in the name of religion.
I’ve watched many Jews, very religious, talk about Al Aqsa and proving that there’s no need whatsoever for Jews to destroy it, supporting their talks with historical and religious facts, as well as many studies and never ending research.
But even if we disregard those who are against destroying Al Aqsa, is it really religious to destroy other religious monuments? Does it serve the noble goal of any religion to destroy something that belongs to other people? Are the results going to be more of positive or negative ones?

I believe it’s about time we draw the end line to destruction, war and injustice, and try for once to follow logic and commonsense. Let’s try to save what’s left to be saved!

My Birthday!

So today is my Birthday! What do people do on their birthdays? Some party all night long, some eat as much yummy things as possible, some meet up with friends… There’s no limit to what people could do to celebrate such a day.
Personally I’d love to gather with my loved ones, I’d definitely love to get some presents, but I’m totally against making this day a burden. I hate to know people did the impossible to afford a gift I would like, I hate to know people are making up excuses just to avoid showing up on this particular day because they can’t afford a gift!
But I guess birthdays, just like many other social occasions, have become more of a tradition. In our busy lifestyles, we have created certain occasions to remind us of our loved ones, or to remind us of the rights of certain people and so on… So these occasions became part of us, we grew up accustomed to celebrating them, and here we are now, not only celebrating, but even making it a nightmare for others to celebrate with us!
This is not what I love to happen on my birthday. On my birthday I love to think, relax, take a walk in a breathtaking spot, do nothing but enjoy the simple blesses of life…
Every year on my birthday, I can’t help but try to picture my family the day I was born, how was it like! What feelings did my parents have when they first held me?! How did my brother and sister feel when they first saw me? How was it like to watch me grow bit by bit? How did they think I would be in the future? Did they ever see me living away?
Another thing I think of every birthday: my accomplishments! I guess it’s no secret that my career life sucks, not because my job is bad, but because it’s not for me. I need to help people. And although I never stopped looking for a job that fits my preferences, I never found it. My current job might be the dream of many, but not mine, it’s just so not like me, I just need to draw a smile on a person’s face every day… I’m doing my best, but I’d do much better if it was my full time job! As for my social life, it wont get better if I don’t adjust my lifestyle as soon as possible. But I’m working on it. Yep, less TV, healthier food, more moving. And I wont give up till I have the perfect lifestyle I deserve!

I should be thinking of my birthday gifts, frankly I am, lol! I’m thinking because I love to know what people think I would like, what they think would suit my personality, it’s just like seeing yourself in the eyes of others, and I don’t mean their financial value, mean the concept.
I’ll be celebrating with my great husband and in-laws. Couldn’t miss my family more on this day, it’s awkward to celebrate the day I was born without the ones who witnessed my birth… for 3 years in a row…
Anyway, in case you’re wondering how old I am, I’m 18 😀 Oh, I find it really ridiculous to hide one’s age! We all grow old, and we are who we are, pretending to be younger/ older doesn’t change a thing, so I can proudly say I’m 27 years old 🙂
Thank you God for the life you’ve given me, would do my best to become a better person. Thank you my family for everything you’ve done and still doing, I miss you so much, can’t wait to be with you, thank you my in-laws for making me feel at home, and last but not least, thanks to my amazing husband who is always making me happy despite all the pressure he’s under…
(I feel like I’ve just won an Oscar :P)
By the way, here’s what my birth date means, in case you’re interested 🙂

Your Birthdate: May 6
A birthday on the 6th of the month adds a tone of responsibility, helpfulness, and understanding to your natural inclinations.

Those born on the sixth are more apt to be open and honest with everyone, and more caring about family and friends, too.
This is a number associated with responsibility and caring – this birthday lends a degree of concern for others.

Environment-Friendly Jordan :)

A waste-paper recycling campaign that seeks to raise the community’s awareness on the importance of collecting waste paper, launched a month ago may be extended throughout the Kingdom due to its success, according to the organisers.
The campaign, carried out by the Friends of the Environment Society (FOE), with financing from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, will cover the entire Kingdom in the near future as soon as the necessary funds are available.
People have responded positively to the project by depositing wastepaper in three recycle bins the FOE has placed around Amman. The bins are located at C-Town supermarkets in the 7th circle, the Amman Mall in Tlaa Al Ali and Shmeisani.
A promotional campaign is being run in Arabic newspapers to spread awareness and encourage people and institutions to recycle wastepaper.
The FOE has created a character named “Abu Tadweer,” to deliver important environmental messages to the public and to advocate wastepaper recycling, and will be painted on wastepaper collection vehicles.
The recycled paper, is turned into calendars, postcards and other products to be sold by FOE.
The society is currently touring the capital’s schools to spread awareness among schoolchildren on the importance of recycling waste- paper. A similar workshop will be held soon for representatives of government agencies and departments, a sector that consumes large amounts of paper.

Isn’t this just GREAT! BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO!
I’m so happy!
And I think that environmental characters always work, specially for kids. I mean here in Tunisia they have “Labeeb”. In almost every city, there’s a street called: Environment Street. In that street they have the statues of “Labeeb” implanted in the ground. They paint “Labeeb” on products, brochures and show him on TV 🙂 In Tunis’ Environment Street they even have little “Labeebs” now…
Anyway, I really hope all Arab countries keep spreading environmental awareness and encourage activities that will help preserve the natural resources on our planet.

I really urge you all to take a look at the FOE website: English, and Arabic.

World Press Freedom Day

null
Every year, May 3rd is World Press Freedom Day, a day to celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom; to evaluate press freedom around the world, to defend the media from attacks on their independence and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the exercise of their profession.
It serves as an occasion to inform citizens of violations of press freedom – a reminder that in dozens of countries around the world, publications are censored, fined, suspended and closed down, while journalists, editors and publishers are harassed, attacked, detained and even murdered.
This day is to encourage and develop initiatives in favour of press freedom, and to assess the state of press freedom worldwide, discussing issues of press freedom and professional ethics with media professionals.
A day to remind governments of the need to respect their commitment to press freedom. Just as importantly, World Press Freedom Day is a day of support for media which are targets for the restraint, or abolition, of press freedom. It is also a day of remembrance for those journalists who lost their lives in the exercise of their profession.

This year, World Press Freedom Day is dedicated to the theme “Media and Good Governance”. To celebrate the day, UNESCO organized a conference in Senegal’s capital Dakar, from 1 to 3 May 2005.

Unfortunately many Arab countries do not believe in press freedom, any kind of criticism is not welcome. Although I think Arab countries are experiencing great improvement in many fields of life, freedom of expression and press freedom have not yet reached a safe constructive level.
Today is a very important chance to call for the rights of journalists who are suffering, experiencing torture and being thrown in prison or receiving threats that include them and their families for simply expressing their opinion.
I’m sure that when granted their rights and their freedom, we’ll witness more positive developments in our countries; respect will replace fear, creativity will replace hesitance, and success will replace failure.

Many of you asked about the meetup photos and I answered that many photos were taken but some bloggers did not wish to have their photos published, which meant most of the photos that were taken for the whole group could not be published.

But there are few pics that were ok to publish, you can check them out Here! Enjoy 😉
