A Day In My Life… “Youm Fi Hayati”

Is a wonderful program I watched on Dubai TV last week. The program can be considered a type of reality programs, a very successful one, and better than many of the silly ones offered to watch people do nothing useful.

“Youm Fi Hayati” as it’s called in Arabic, is presented by the Egyptian Mariam Ameen, and teaches people to respect each others careers, lives, abilities or even disabilities.

There are 4 participants in each episode. They’re divided into 2 groups of two. In each group, one of the participants lives the life of the other with all its details for 2 days, yes, whole 48 hours. This offers the participant the chance to know how the life of his partner in the team goes, what difficulties he/she faces, and how he/she manages.
Of course not all participants succeed in adapting to the life of the other, and this is decided by the audience, who watch the filming of those 48 hours.
The program is so touching, it makes people know what it’s like to be someone else, makes people thank God for what they’ve got, and work harder to become better. It’s truly moving and a lot of emotions are involved.
Last episode, a famous journalist had to live the life of an amazingly talented disabled man from UAE. The journalist had to use the wheelchair, was prohibited to use his feet and had to go through the other’s whole life, from his job, to his leisure time hobbies, to his social relationships, everything. It was amazing and sooooo touching!
And the other participant, a Saudi student had to live the life of a Lebanese man who has a bee farm and is responsible for honey production. It was hilarious, specially with those many bee bites, ouch! 😉

I just love programs that serve a humanitarian goal!

You can watch it on Dubai TV every Tuesday at 22: 30 UAE Time (18:30 GMT). Don’t miss it!

“Tito”

We went to the movies on Saturday and watched “Tito”. It was awesome.
The movie is staring Ahmad Saqqa and Hanan Turk and directed by Tariq Al-Aryan. Again, Egypt is proving its ability to compete with high international movie making standards.
Other than the great effects, professional production, and amazing actors, the theme was just great.
The movie discusses the life of “Tito”, who symbolizes all poor children, that found themselves growing in the streets, surrounded with poverty and difficult life circumstances, having no one to guide them, help them or love them.
Again, Bravo Egypt for another really impressive movie.

If you haven’t seen it yet, then don’t waste more time. The movie is great.

Tahir Rashid

Tahir Rashid is a very talented poet, songwriter and singer.
“My style of writing might be very different to a lot of the poets and lyricists as I do not compromise on what subject I want to write and I try to convey my feelings as openly as possible.” He says.
The main influence for his poetry is this world in itself. World events, situation of the people and the different phases he has gone through in his life.
Other than his spiritually/religiously subjected poems he’s also working on a hip hop album on which he will be performing with some other fellow artists.

Just A Joke ;)

Here’s a quick joke to cheer you up. Enjoy…

Employee: I want a day off work.
Employer:Want a day off work?
So you want a day off. Let’s take a look at what you are asking for. There are 365 days per year available for work. There are 52 weeks per year in which you already have 2 days off per week, leaving 261 days available for work. Since you spend 16 hours each day away fron work, you have used up 170 days, leaving only 91 days available. You spend 30 minutes each day on coffee break which counts for 23 days each year, leaving only 68 days available. With a 1 hour lunch each day, you used up another 46 days, leaving only 22 days available for work. You normally spend 2 days per year on sick leave. This leaves you only 20 days per year available for work. We are off 5 holidays per year, so your available working time is down to 15 days. We generously give 14 days vacation per year which leaves only 1 day available for work and I’ll be darned if you are going to take that day off!

Bei den Radio Music Awards in Vegas war Beyoncé Knowles wieder unter den glücklichen Gewinnern. Beyoncé kam mit ihren Kolleginnen von Destinys Child. Den Preis „Artist of the Year“ räumte sie allerdings allein ab. Zu den Show-Hightlights gehörten die Auftritte von Elton John, Alanis Morissette und Ashlee Simpson.

OOOPS ;)

Sometimes the great and the good, rich and famous, get carried away. They say things that turn out to be radically wrong and later wish they had kept quiet. Or what they say is just plain stupid. Here are some examples:

  • No one will need more than 637Kb of memory for a personal computer’ – Bill Gates
  • Stocks have reached what looks like a permanently high plateau.’ – Irving Fisher (1929)
  • We don’t like their sound. Groups of guitars are on the way out’ – Decca record executive on the Beatles

  • Everything that can be invented has been invented.- – 1899, Charles Duell, U.S. Office of Patents.
  • There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home.’ – Ken Olson, 1977, Digital Equipment Corporation
  • The Internet is a great way to get on the Net.’ – Bob Dole
  • Life is very important to Americans.’ – Bob Dole
  • A low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people going to the polls.’ – Dan Quayle
  • I was recently on a tour of Latin America, and the only regret I have was that I didn’t study Latin harder in school so I could converse with those people.’ – Dan Quayle
  • It’s not pollution that is hurting the environment, it’s the impurities in our air and water that are doing it.’ – Dan Quayle
  • If we don’t succeed we run the risk of failure.’ – Dan Quayle

“Islam Connecting People”

Ammar Kebede, a very talented young man born in Ethiopia and grown up in Germany. Ammar used to write lyrics for rap songs, and used to rap since 1995. He was a part of a small group of talented people. They wanted to be famous and reach the world, but they wanted it in the right way. They didn’t want to sing about drugs or sex, they didn’t want video clips with women surrounding them, they wanted to show all stars that there are other ways of becoming famous, while keeping self-respect.
In the same year, Ammar got to know Islam and read in the Quran. In 1999 he converted to Islam, ever since then he started writing lyrics about things he believed were meaningful and worth discussing. He started writing about life, the truth of things, God, poverty, egoism, and anything that could give a wakeup call to people to improve their lives and help each other.
His topics are well selected, his texts are Islamic and his songs simply rock. The reactions to his new style music and Islamic rap songs were so positive. People loved Ammar and his meaningful music.
His latest CD is called “Mehr als Musik” (more than music) and could be purchased from Ammar’s website: Ammar114.de
You can also hear his songs and download a lot of remixes and singles for free. With his songs, Ammar tries to get people to thinking and reconsidering their lives. He tries to encourage people to make their lives more useful and more meaningful.
Unfortunately his website and songs are in German only.

Tomorrow September 23rd, Ammar will be having a live concert in Mainz- Germany. And on Sunday, September 26th, Ammar will be having another Live concert in Berlin-Germany, for FREE. It will be called “Islam Connecting People” and will include interviews with people from around the world, who’d like to share their experience with Islam.
For details about the concerts, the time, place and tickets you can check his site or call: 0177-3448727, or simply send an email on the following address: icp[AT]gmx.de.
You’re all invited 🙂

“Innocent Eyes”

I just happen to love this song.

Do you remember…
lalalalalala lalalalalala…
Hmmm…

Isn’t it just beautiful.
This Delta Goodrem hit is stuck to me since yesterday, I was singing it and hearing its music in my head all day long. And since downloading music is restricted here in the company, I thought bringing her CD with me to work will be just perfect. So here I am listening to it for the 10th time already. I’m not sick, I just love this song. Her whole Album is great, but this “Innocent Eyes” is my favorite, my second favorite in this album is “Lost Without You”, third is “Not Me, Not I” but it’s so touching with sad tunes, which will make things worse for me.
Anyway, let me get back to work, although I’m not in the mood AT ALL 😉 Great day to all of you…
