Lesson Of The Day

“Beauty is a matter of taste, money can’t buy you everything, power is never lasting, luck is not always there, but even if you had them all, don’t think you’ll succeed, for success is a huge door, beauty, money, power and luck are just sticks with which you can only knock on the door, to open it, you must have the key, and the key to success is a kind smile, a loving heart, a confident step, a nice word, a modest nature, and a respectful manner” my great MOM.

Lesson Of The Day

Every day teaches me something new, and since I go through so many experiences that add to my knowledge and right many wrongs in my lifestyle and principles, I thought I should share this with you, maybe what I learn would solve a problem of yours or help you make the right decision. Even if you don’t use what I learn, then you can at least add it to your information, who knows, maybe one day you or someone you know will need it.
Therefore I have decided to make a revolution in the world of quotes, no more famous sayings, no more old wisdoms, from now on I’ll be quoting people, everyday people, normal individuals I meet in the streets, in stores, or friends, or employers, or employees, or families, or relatives, or anyone that adds to my knowledge.
So from today, I’ll have a post called “Lesson of The Day”, in which I share what this life teaches me, and quote spontaneous words of a normal person, who meant nothing but have a nice chat in his life, not being aware of the change he made in mine.
Today’s Lesson is:
“Sadness is when the heart is loaded with bad experiences and bitter memories. If you want to be happy, you have to believe that your heart is a plastic bag with a big hole in it; whatever worries or sorrows are thrown inside, have no place to be kept or add up, they will fall from the other side” – the oldest, wisest, and kindest taxi driver I’ve ever met.

Giving Education A Bad Name

A report required by the No Child Left Behind law and delivered to Congress on Wednesday, shows that more than 4.5 million students endure sexual misconduct by employees at their schools, from inappropriate jokes all the way to forced sex. This report by Charol Shakeshaft, a Hofstra University professor is the first to analyze research about sexual misconduct at schools.
According to the report nearly one in 10 kids faces misbehavior ranging from unprofessional to criminal sometime between kindergarten and 12th grade. The report describes schools as places where abusers can target vulnerable and marginal students who are afraid to complain or unlikely to be believed if they did. In a particularly troubling finding, the report says that in elementary schools, the abuser is often one of the people liked most by students and trusted most by parents. Sexual misconduct is defined in the report as physical, verbal or visual behavior.
The report found teachers are the most common offenders, followed by coaches, substitute teachers, bus drivers and teacher aides. Among those offenders, 57 percent are male and 43 percent are female. Among the victims, 56 percent are girls and 44 percent are boys. More Details .

July 1st

So today is July 1st, it might ring no bell if you’re not living neither in Tunisia nor in Canada. But if you are, then you must know that it’s Independence Day in Canada and the beginning of the summer working schedule in Tunisia, which is –in most cases- at least 3 hours less than the normal working hours 😉 My working hours are usually from 8/8:30 a.m. till 5/5:30 p.m. Now I work from 7:30 a.m. till 1:30 p.m. and my husband works from 8 till 3, isn’t this WONDERFUL! 🙂
The great things is, this schedule will stay till August: 2 MONTHS.
The reason behind these less working hours is the unbelievable heat which gets most of the people lazy and living on their nerves. And to be honest I think it’s the best thing to do. I mean no one can work as usual with such an annoying heat and such a long long day time. Only yesterday I was feeling that when I get out of the office, taking into consideration that the sun is no longer that strong, I feel like I’m melting. I feel my shoes will be stuck to the street and I’ll melt right away. It’s not that horrible though, coz you can always take a dip in the cool refreshing waves of the sea. Many people we know prefer taking vacation during July and August. It’s easier to get an ok because most of the clients are off on vacation, so not much work to do, which means it’s ok if you leave too. And others just take it at that time to escape the unbelievable heat and stay at a cool home or enjoy a refreshing beach somewhere inside or outside Tunisia. For me and my husband, we try to avoid taking our vacation in these two months, simply because we’re already working less, so we save the vacation for a period when we can skip a whole 8-9 hours work 🙂
Anyway, happy “Summer Day” to all of you in Tunisia and happy Canada Day to you in Canada 🙂

Fight Weight Gain At Work

So many employees complain about the fact that they gain weight rapidly while they’re at work. This is due to many factors, factors that an employee should be aware of to take care and keep in shape.
1.Stress = overeating: Having loads of work to do, little time to get it done, being limited to tight deadlines, your phone is ringing all day long, all this causes stress, to de-stress yourself it might be the easiest and fastest way to turn to eating. But a better way is take a quick break.
Try this quick de-stressing movement for your eyes: “Look away from the monitor and raise your eyes to the ceiling. Then look down to the floor as if your eyes are following a column. Move them up and down three times while keeping your head and neck still — it’s yoga for your eyes.”
2.Strengthen your muscles: Desk jobs help loosen the muscles and gaining weight, in order to avoid this you can exercise WITHOUT cutting in to work time. Here you go some quick excercises:
(a)The Desk Workout: sit up straight and squeeze in your stomach as you lift up on your toes to tighten your calves.
(b)The Phone Workout: Whenever you pick up your phone, stand up at your desk to give your body a stretch and an energy boost. As you talk, one arm can do small circles, which help tone the upper biceps and triceps. Or, if you have a headset (and enough room for your wingspan), try circling both arms.
(c)The Copy Machine Workout: When you’re running off a big batch of documents, don’t just stand there while the machine sorts your reports. Do a set of lunges or march in place to get your blood flowing.
3.Boredom: Some think they’re hungry when in fact they’re only bored. If you’re not seriously hungry don’t eat, move around the office instead. BUT if you’re really hungry then try to eat something healthy you brought from home with you or a quick “pick-me-up” snack, like a teaspoon of peanut butter for example.
4.Work for it: Don’t store snacks in your desk. Instead, keep them in your office kitchen or ask a co-worker to hold them for you. That way, you’ll have to make a conscious effort to get up and move before you can reach for a treat.
5.Be selective: Choose restaurants that offer healthy meals.
6.Control your thirst: Sometimes you get so involved in your work that you can forget to stay hydrated. It’s important to drink the needed amounts of water. Water can help curb the snack impulse and you can use water bottles to do some lateral raises, bicep curls and shoulder presses right at your desk.

Here are 5 great at-your- desk stretches that will help you stay fit 🙂

The Pricless Blessings of Life

George Lorimer said “It is good to have money and the things money can buy, but it’s good too, to check up once in a while and make sure you haven’t lost the things money can’t buy”.
Don’t be money-crazed. Always keep in mind, that money is to help us survive, it shall never become the goal we live for.
We change places, we spend so much time, pay big efforts to end up with a “fat” bank account. An account to guarantee savior from any financial problem we could face, or an account to add more to our possessions, or get what we “think” we need, or simply an account to show off, believing it will win people’s respect and get their attention.
This is not wrong, money will get us more things, but do we really need them? Money will save us from financial problems, but what we consider a problem, might be nothing but lack of extras, or getting in trouble because we didn’t think right, and not because we didn’t have enough money. Money will get us power, respect and attention, but of what kind? The temporary kind that occurs with money and vanishes when money is gone.
Therefore, work hard, earn your money, and try to increase your income, but don’t make this the reason you live for. And while you work on that, always take care of things you have but can never buy with all the money of the world: health, dignity, faith, love, and happiness. Keep in mind that “The man [or woman] who does not work for the love of work but only for money is not likely to make money nor to find much fun in life.” -Charles M. Schwab
So if you don’t like your job, look for the one you dream of instead of believing in bad luck. And one day you will find the job of your dreams, you will quit yours to go for the one you love, and for someone else to come in your place, someone who has been looking for your job and waiting for the day he/she will find it.
Know that “Happiness is a present attitude – not a future condition.”-Hugh Prather , therefore don’t postpone your happiness till you “have better luck next time”, or until you “buy a new car” or until you “find the love of your life”. Be happy right now, and act accordingly, this will make people see your inside, and get them close to you. Be happy about who you are, be happy about everything around you, wear a beautiful pure smile on your face, be happy about weather, food, and your whole existence. You’ll feel you can fly even if you’re stuck in your office. Think of people you love, others who love you, and you’ll feel how precious and important you are.
Be good to others, help them, make them happy, that will reflect on you, and you’ll find yourself healthy in mind, body and soul, happy with all your heart, keeping your head up high… you’ll find yourself never losing the priceless blessings of life…

Fear

Everywhere I look around me, I see fear controlling people. It’s rare to find someone living without fear. This is the sad truth that a lot of us pretend to ignore.
Our acts, our movements and our sayings, they’re all put in action after we’re given the green light from our brains, our brains that keep thinking, assuming and looking at all possible reactions or results of the things we’re about to say or do, and after this quick (and sometimes very slow) scan is done, our brains finally give us the green light, or command us to stop and forget about it.
I hear people say: “money is power you can’t fear when you have power”. But I find them living in fear of losing that power. I hear people shout: “we fear nothing, we tell the truth and say what’s right”, and what a coincidence! It turns out the truth they tell is the same one of the ones with power, and the right they see, is what others before them saw was right! Yeah, they fear nothing, they’re just scared to cross the lines of those stronger than them, or put new rules different than those put by those before them.
I hear people scream: “we fear no one but God”, to discover later on that God has become a high position or a fat stuffed wallet. I hear people laugh saying: “we fear no one, even God”, to find out they fear everything including God.
Everyone today is full of fear. Fear of losing wealth, fear of having bad reputation, fear of being neglected, fear of losing love, fear of getting sick, fear of not getting enough attraction, fear of finding no help, fear of losing power, fear of becoming older, fear of getting fatter, fear of becoming uglier, fear of being lost, fear of being hurt, fear of getting killed, fear of being dumped, fear of being loved, fear of being misunderstood, fear of risk, fear of this, fear of that… FEAR! It’s because of fear that we hide instead of showing up, lie instead of telling truth, hurt instead of love, runaway instead of standing up for ourselves and standing by others, kill instead of save, attack instead of defend, and it’s because of fear that we go down instead of going up.
Fear is a part of us. It’s ok to have it as long as it wont affect others and as long as it wont control your personality. This is the healthy kind of fear. The kind that makes us better people, more careful ones. But when fear becomes an illness and lets us act according to it, force us to lie and hurt because of it, then this is definitely the destructive kind of fear.
Be strong, believe in yourself, believe that you were created for a reason, be careful, but never surrender to the destructive fear. Because if you do, you can’t imagine how ugly, meaningless and lost you will be…

Your Reputation!

Our reputation is important, but it’s not too important to let it take over our lives, neither it is so insignificant to go on do whatever we desire wherever we wish giving no damn about our surrounding.
The other day I came across this quote, and I wish I knew who said these words, but I didn’t, anyway, it says: “Reputation is what people think you are. Character is who you really are. Take care of your character and your reputation will take care of itself”.
And I agree, reputation is what people think you are, and what people think is based upon what you really do, OR it could be based on what others say you do. And what others say you do could be true (stemming from what you really do), or could be false (in that case would be more of a rumor than a reputation).
In other words: the key to reputation is one’s self. All you should do to get a good reputation is be natural, never cross others’ red lines, be kind, stand up for your rights, be honest and show respect. Now if you do this and you hear others warn you of your “bad reputation” then don’t care, don’t be sad, because in this case -like I said before- it’s rumors that are trying to give you a bad reputation. Rumors come from people who hate you, envy you, or those who misunderstand you. You shouldn’t worry at all, why? Because whoever believes those rumors in the first place, and ignores his/ her personal knowledge of you and who you truly are, doesn’t deserve your sadness nor your trust. And whoever really loves you and cares for your friendship will never ever let others affect his/her opinion of you. It’s only in hard times and through difficulties that a person could really test the friendship, loyalty and love of others around him/her. Therefore, don’t care that much about what others think of you, others will never be pleased with you no matter what you do, better please yourself by doing things right and going to bed with a guilt-free mind and a smiley face. And let me end this post with a quote of Mr. Herbert Bayard Swope: “I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure- which is: try to please everybody“.

Stressed & Tired?… Breaaaaaaathe :)

Yep, just like you’ve read, if you’re tired, stressed out or suffering from pain and illnesses, then it might so possibly be your way of breathing. A lot of us don’t breathe correctly, they might not know that breathing incorrectly can produce tension, exhaustion and vocal strain, interfere with athletic activity and encourage aches and illnesses. Whereas breathing correctly can melt away tension and stress, improve energy or simply relax and unwind. This is because breathing oxygenates every cell of your body, from your brain to your vital organs. Without sufficient oxygen, your body becomes more susceptible to health problems. Deep breathing raises levels of blood oxygen, promoting health in many ways: from stimulating the digestive process to improving fitness and mental performance.
An important fact that so many might not be aware of is that most of us are “shallow breathers”, as we use only the narrow top portion of the lung surface for oxygen exchange.
To know if you belong to the group of “shallow breathers” then put your palms against your lower abdomen and blow out all the air. Now, take a big breath. If your abdomen expands when you inhale and air seems to flow in deeply to the pit of your stomach, you’re on the right track.
One of the reasons why people become shallow breathers is the psychological factor. Going to bed when you’re afraid, angry, sad or tensed, we hold your breath.
We lose that innate ability of pumping with the stomach. The lungs should just be a container and when we use them as a pump, they become overburdened and the muscles get tight, and with time asthma can develop as a result of such constriction. We can also lose the capacity for deep core breathing from a traumatic emotional experience, or physical pain. When we are in pain we want as little movement as possible. This again restricts breathing; later, when you are well, your breath may remain shallow.
Therefore, reconsider your way of breathing, make it deep, try to be in places where you can get as much fresh air as possible, wear comfortable clothes, eat moderately and healthy, and most important of all, be happy, solve your problems, and think like: nothing’s impossible, and I’ll figure it out somehow.
Happy breathing…

Attempt To Implant A Whole Face!

A medical team in an American university has proposed to make the first whole-face implant operation to a patient using the face of a dead person. The team includes Dr. John Barker, Dr.Serges Martinez and Dr. Joe Banis. Inspired by the procedure done on Sandeep Kaur 10 years ago (whose face and scalp were torn off by a grass cutter and then reattached), their goal is to transform the lives of the seriously disfigured like Jacqui Saburido whose life changed completely after being hit by a drunk driver.
This whole face implanting operation is the first of its kind in human history. 2 operations took place in USA and Australia have succeeded in implanting around 50% of facial skin. This time it’s different, a whole face, with its features, with its muscles and all of its skin will be placed instead of the old face, which has been burnt or cut for example.
According to the team, the duration of the operation may be 24 continuous hours.
The proposal of this operation has caused a huge discussion in terms of physical as well as psychological side-effects.
The operation requires taking certain kind of medicine that will lower the bodies resistance in order to guarantee the least rejection for the implanted face. Such treatments might so possibly have bad side-effects that will endanger the patient’s health. Therefore there is a big risk in making this operation. On the other hand, implanting the face of a dead person will result in the patient losing his/her original face and looking exactly like the dead person. This will also have its dangerous side-effects on both the mental and psychological health of the patient as well as their families and friends. Because this will mean bringing back life to the dead, and taking away the life of the living. This isn’t easy at all.
The team has been experimenting the operation of total face implanting on dead bodies, and according to them, they seem to have solved all the problems and defeated all difficulties that may occur in such an operation. Arabic
