“Stupid Girls”

I just LOVE this song, I really do. Other than the music I enjoy so much, and the funny video, I simply adore the message conveyed by this song and its courageous criticism.

As ContactMusic explains:

‘Stupid Girls’ is a commentary on the new breed of celebrity currently dominating and obsessing the western world’s media. Spitting satirical jibes at the slew of heiresses, glamour models, pap pop artists and any other figure of fame who is famous for being famous, ‘Stupid Girls’ rejects the D list celebrity as a suitable role model for the youth of today.

In a recent survey published by The Sunday Times, girls aged between 15 and 19 were asked which careers they wished to pursue. 63% said glamour modelling and 25% lap dancing in comparison to 4% saying lawyer and 3% doctor – a shocking upshot of the superficial cult status of today’s airhead celebrity. An opportune time then, for the message of ‘Stupid Girls’ to dominate our airwaves.

Read the lyrics here!

Now the question is: would any Arab artist be willing to do something like “Stupid Girls”? I mean God knows our media is FULL of them!

Pink is probably one of the few pop singers out there who happens to be a decent rode model.

I totally agree, and I can’t think of a SINGLE Arab artist that might go with this song’s theme! Though I really wish someone would, and make it clear they’re singing about Haifa Wahbe, whom I really really hate. I can’t help it, I just REALLY hate her!

I agree. This also is a critical demonstration of Pink for its rivals. As for example Britney,Aguilera etc. That makes everything to appear in the media. In certain way influencing this new generation of girls to dream of the fast fame…

    OH!Haifa Wahbe, I am so sorry for her… 😆

It’s unfair to just pick on the Stupid Girls.
What about the Stupid Boys in the Arab media?

Natalia, I totally agree with you.

Hal, lol, I join you in hating Haifa and ones like her who brought nothing but cheap works and stupidity to Arab art! I really hope someone will teach all Haifa-likes out there a lesson!

Salam, they are shocking, but I guess they’re just natural, I mean young people’s minds are being poisoned on daily basis by cheap and silly media, thanks to irresponsible media, and our communities will pay the price one day… actually they are paying the price already.

AhueBrazil, you just said the perfect word to describe the dream of young people today: fast fame!

Saad, well, sure there are millions of stupid boys, but I guess Pink’s criticism was focused on the ones in her field of profession, and her competetion, so I guess a man should do the same to men 😉 But to be honest, although I’m supposed to be pro-women, but still, it has to be said that women in the music/modelling, and video-clip industry are way much embarrassing and silly than men, I mean they’re doing IMPOSSIBLE things just to keep people staring at them! don’t you agree?
