Iran’s President’s Letter To George Bush
Although I don’t agree with the policies and political stands of Iran’s president, yet I believe some of the points mentioned in this letter he wrote to George Bush are really worth reading!
Thanks to my friend Jimbo for bringing my attention to the letter.
You’re welcome, Eman.
Though Jimbo’s considerably more concerned about the current water temperature in the neighboring Gulf of Mexico–about that seen in mid to late summer–than he is about the Iranian President, or even about Mr. Bush. At those temperatures, one can go to bed unworried about a small, weak hurricane meandering about and awaken next day to a howling Katrina charging in to rock one’s world.
The hurricane season doesn’t offically start until June 1st. Think anyone’s told the storm gods that? 🙂 (I see the Iranian chap who lives down the street and used to run an office cleaning business now has three new trucks in his yard marked “Hurricane Shutters.” And a BMW. Someone’s doing well. 🙂 )
Jimbo, I truly wish no harm comes close to you or your loved ones, and I sure hope that no Katrina-like hurricanes would ever happen again for the sake of all people living in your part of the world.
I hope all of you know what to do and where to turn to in case a hurricane strikes.
Best wishes always…
I’ve read the letter of Iran’s President in le Monde (the well known frensh newspaper), I’ve also read the reactions of some people to that letter. What really surprised me is that most of the comments were critizing AhmadiNajed and the Iranien Regime rather than focusing on the content of the letter and the points takled by Iran’s president.
I personally found the letter quite interesting and worth reading and I understand why GWB has decided to just ignore it, I don’t think he’s able or capable to respond to it.
Thank you, Eman. You’re unfailingly kind. Actually, I think we may move to rural northwestern New Mexico in a few years, if we’re still standing.
I’m afraid GWB isn’t a big reader. He doesn’t attempt newspapers or news magazines, relying instead on staff summaries for current events. When 9/11 caught him down the street here in town, he was reading “My Pet Goat” to some eight year olds and doing OK with it. (I have a copy of the book bearing that school’s library stamp, picked up at a surplus sale. It’s one of my few prized possessions.) Then about a year ago, he had a “photo-op” reading a popular magazine of American history in front of a crackling fire–this on the same day that Bill Clinton was enjoying Marcus Aurelius’s “The Meditations” in its original Latin.
Nj, thanks for your comment. I understand your shock, and well, what can one say, it might be the rather offensive approach Iran’s president is taking towards Israel lately that’s making people focus on showing the negative side of his regime rather than taking a couple of minutes to really understand what he was trying to say and pay attention to the points he mentioned!
Like you I found the letter worth reading indeed.
Jimbo, I hope you’ll always be standing and in good shape, you and your loved ones. And yeah, sad but true, it’s always the people who pay the price, while their leaders are in complete ignorance!
Eman,
In the interests of giving equal time to the U.S. President, here is a recent address he made:
